Internet Crimes on the Rise
Internet crime and fraud is on the rise and evolving in ways that could not have been imagined just a few years ago. According to the latest annual report by the Internet Crime Complaint Center, internet crime schemes online scams perpetrating fraud and white collar crime has increased substantially, with old scams resurfacing and new ones taking shape. Some of the popular scam trends included astrological readings, job site scams, fake pop-up ads advertising anti-virus software, and a hitman scam which intended as extortion schemes towards intended victims threatening harm to himself or family of the victim.
